TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Submission for SIPF’s Open Call is open from 26 October 2015 to 29 February 2016 (Singapore Time 23:59hr, UTC/GMT +8 hours). Selection of works and proposals will the decided by the independent panel of festival curators. Shortlisted works will be exhibited at various locations across Singapore during the 5th SIPF 2016, 3 September to 31 October 2016. The festival will notify selected Open Call photographers on 30 March 2016 through email, and the selected participants and works will be announced on the festival website (http://sipf.sg/) in April 2016. Unfortunately, the festival is unable to contact all unsuccessful participants directly.

  1. Entrants

Entry is open to anyone who satisfies the following conditions:

  • 18 years and above regardless of sex and nationality
  • Open to all amateur and established photographers and curators worldwide
  1. Submission Materials

Photography entries shot on either film or digital cameras are eligible. However, all images submitted must be in digital file format.

  1. Closing Date and Entry Submission

Entries will be accepted from 26 October 2015 (Singapore Time 0:00hr, UTC/GMT +8 hours) to 29 February 2016 (Singapore Time 23:59hr, UTC/GMT +8 hours). All entries must be submitted online at the following web address: http://register.sipf.sg/. Submissions via post and email will not be accepted.

  1. Submission Fee

The submission fee must be completed via PayPal for a successful application.

  • Open Call Showcase: USD$30 (Thirty USD) per body of work.

A penalty fee of USD$50 per body of work is imposed for late submissions after the official deadline. Late submissions are accepted from 1 March 2016 to 12 March 2016 (Singapore Time 23:59hr, UTC/GMT +8 hour).

  • Curatorial Project Showcase: USD$50 per proposal. Late submissions are not accepted.
  1. Quantity of Entries

Open Call Showcase:

  • Each participant may enter up to a maximum of 4 bodies of works only. Each body should consist of a minimum of 7 images, and up to a maximum of 20 images.

Curatorial Project Showcase:

  • Each curator may submit up to 2 proposals only. The proposal should consist of a minimum of 2 artists, and up to a maximum of 8 artists.
  1. Eligible Submissions

Open Call Showcase:

  • Each body of work must contain at least 7 images in order for the curators to understand and to make sound value judgment.
  • All images must not contain obscene, provocative or politically-inappropriate content.
  • The festival reserve the right to reject any images that does meet the necessary requirements.
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Curatorial Project Showcase:

  • Each proposal must include a one-page curatorial statement that expresses curatorial intent and in-depth research exhibition concept, and other supporting documents.
  • Supporting documents include updated biography of curator/s, curriculum vitae of curator/s, curatorial statement of exhibition, an image list of artworks in proposed exhibition, compiled artist statements of bodies of works for artists, compiled artist biographies, completed Budget Worksheet form.
  • All artworks must not contain obscene, provocative or politically-inappropriate content.
  • The festival reserve the right to reject any images that does meet the necessary requirements.
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
  1. Age of Images

For the Open Call Showcase, images should be shot within the past 5 years.

  1. Digital Manipulation

Digital manipulation is permissible for artistic and conceptual creation.

  1. Photographers' Copyrights

Entrants to the Open Call Showcase represent and warrant that they are the authors and owners of the copyright of all images submitted and that their entries do not infringe the privacy rights, copyrights or any other rights of any person.

  1. Reproduction Rights of Organiser – Singapore International Photography Festival

The organiser reserves the right to free reproduction and exhibition of the submitted images in all media, printed marketing material, publication and online, but only in connection with SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL and its promotion. The copyright will, at all times, be retained by the photographer and, where an image or images are reproduced by the organiser, the photographer will be credited. Where image reproduction is unrelated to the festival and its promotion, a fee should be agreed with the photographer in advance.

  1. Online Submission and Notification of Selected Applicants

Open Call Showcase

  • Image format: Entrants must submit image files in RGB JPEG format.
  • Image size: The longest side of each image must not exceed 1024 pixels. Each image file should not exceed 1 MB in file size.
  • The organisers will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the festival.
  • 30 shortlisted photographers will be selected by this edition’s panel of curators (Gwen Lee, Seok Jae-Hyun, and Simon Baker).
  • All shortlisted entrants will be notified by email on 30 March 2016. The festival is unable to contact all unsuccessful participants directly.
  • Shortlisted entrants will have till 30 May 2016 to submit a high-resolution file of the selected images in TIFF format for the exhibition and catalogue production by the festival sponsor. These data are protected and will be destroyed after the end of SIPF 2016.
  • Selected works will be produced into mounted photographic prints, unless otherwise agreed between the artist and festival team, and the final presentation of works will be decided by the curators and the festival team.
  1. Curators' Decision

A panel of curators are appointed by the Singapore International Photography Festival. The selection of works will be determined by the curators. Their decision is final and binding on all matters relating to the festival exhibition. The organiser will not enter into any correspondence regarding the selection of the festival exhibition.

The entrant agrees to abide by the terms and conditions. Any breach of these terms will void an entrant of their entries. The organisers reserve the right to amend any of these rules without prior notice. Any amendments will be published on the website and it is the entrants' responsibility to review the website for any amendments.
